TS Galaxy qualify for Nedbank Cup last 32 for the first time

KAMEELREVIER– On December 02, 2018 TS Galaxy gave the former PSL side a 5-2 drubbing at Kameelrivier Stadium to book their place in the Nedbank Cup last 32 together

Goals scored by Siyabonga Khumalo, Tshegofatso Nyama, Lucky Setelele and a brace from Snethemba Ngidi dumping the Urban Warriors out of the tournament.

The Rockets made their intentions clear from the first whistle, dominating possession and taking an early lead through Ngidi, who redirected Nyama’s exquisite pass into the back of the net to open the scoring just five minutes into the first half.

Dan Malesela’s charges took a healthy three nil lead to the half time break, and continued where they had left in the first half when they returned, piling more pressure on Ajax in

Enjoying a comfortable 4 – 0 lead, Galaxy looked to be taking their foot off the pedal, which allowed the visitors back into the game, and eventually pulling one back through Kabwe Rodrick in the 77th minute. Kabwe reduced the deficit further six minutes later with a header from close range.

It looked like the scoring frenzy was over until Khumalo, who came in as an 85th minute substitution, sealed the victory for the hosts just two minutes after taking into the field.

For the first time since they are contesting in the NFD that they managed to score five goals, hopefully it’s a start of being goal-orientated. This is huge relief for their supporters who were running out of patience and they are looking forward to scoring goals.

The Rockets, #Siyadumuza as they are affectionately known, are in 12th place on the NFD table with 13 points from 12 games, will host log leaders Stellenbosch FC in their next  league game.
